Things to know:
By third grade, the children need to start being responsible for writing their own homework down, but in case they forget once in a while, I will try my best to update the class calendar each night. Please understand, however, that there will be some nights that I go directly from school to meetings/class etc. and will not be able to update the site. For this reason, it is very important that we work together to make the routine of using our assignment book everyday.
Extra help is always available. I am happy to do extra practice before school or after school any day of the week. Please call or email if you would like to bring your child in to school early, or pick them up late. We can practice Math, LA, Science, Social Studies or any area that they feel that they could use a little extra work with.
Each student has a 'Take-Home' folder, which should be taken home each night and returned to school each day. This is where they should put notes for the teacher/office/parent, as well as papers that I give them to take home and give to you.
Due to our early lunch time, I try and give the children a snack break in the afternoon. Please pack your kids an extra snack!! If anyone wants to volunteer and send in a class-snack to keep in the classroom for when students forget, that would be big help. Snacks can include fruit, pretzles, crackers etc. Please try to avoid candy, sugary cakes etc.
At some point during the year, each of the students will have an opportunity to be our star student. They will find out on Friday and will be expected to be prepared to share with the class the following Friday. They will share up to 5 facts with the class. They will write the facts down on stars provided by Miss Lieb. They should also bring in pictures of themselves and any other important things from their life. They may bring in a snack for the class, but that is NOT mandatory.
